Site Seeing in Plateau d'Assy, the near and broader surrounding!

In the village itself you can visit the Nôtre Dame de Toute Grâce, a small church built in the first half of the last century, with paintings and sculptures by some of the greatest modern french artists of the 20th century, such as Braque, Chagall, Matisse, and others. The stained glass windows were also designed by some well known artists.


Nearby you will come across several sculptures outdoors.

Within the community of "Passy", among also Plateau d'Assy resides, there is the village Chedde, in which there is a wonderful waterfall.

Near the village "Servoz", there is a beautiful Gorge,"Les Gorges de la Diosaz".
A "Gorge" is a narrow rift, often with a big difference in height between the beginning and end of the rift, in which a small river tries to find its way. "Les Gorge de la Diosaz" you can visit almost throughout the year. They ask you a small charge to visit the "Gorge".
It is a nice and easy walk.

At the other side of the valley, at about 15 minutes driving, lies St. Gervais les Bains with his thermal baths, the Tramway du Mont Blanc, and the cable cars for walking in the summer and skiing in the winter. The ski-area is connected with the ski-area of Megève;


Chamonix you will find in about half an hour driving. There is a golf course and a lovely swimming pool, the cable train to the glacier "Mer de glace" (the biggest glacier of Europe), and the cable car to the Aiguille du Midi (at 3842m height with an exceptional view at the valley of the Arve and the Mont Blanc).




Finally you can also drive to Switzerland, to Martigny where you find a beautiful museum for modern art;
or you can drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Italy, to Courmayeur, Aosta or even Turin;
or in an other direction also to Switzerland to Geneva, just one hour from the Gîte, which has on every Saturday a huge flee market!;
